In which Arielle's faithful quest companion, Bowie the Beast Corgi, won't stop sharing his opinions, in a rather reverberatingly loud manner, which has Arielle summoning her barbarian Rage. Many changes and a new service provider in the household are causing chaos and discontent amongst the local residents (Bowie and Arielle). Will peace settle in again swiftly?
Another two weeks have passed, chaotically. While it was somewhat productive, I can't seem to shake the discontent I feel with not making some of my goals for this two-week period. There was a lot of movement and changes going on in my abode, nearly all of which going on alongside, behind, or out of sight entirely from my computer station, which would be fine...if I didn't have a huge thing about supervising. A new service provider also started with us last week, she had to be trained, which would pull me away at inconvenient and disruptive times. Sometimes it feels like the people around me don't take what I'm doing seriously enough...and it has kind of taken its toll this month...between weeks full of back-to-back appointments, training a new service person, my dog absolutely losing his tiny canine mind every time the service person moves to a different area of the house, etc.
I'm just tired of all the distractions. It's so hard for me to focus on a day with absolutely nothing chaotic, and it's impossible and exhausting when it's like this. Times like these, have me wishing everyone would leave me alone so I can really focus.
That said, I do have some work to share for today.
I mostly tried to focus on what I thought was the most important thing to accomplish, which is the group project Blue Hair. The plant I'm working on is still incomplete, with the glowing flowering bud part still needing completion, but I was able to get the main plant/fern/shrub completed, and I'm happy with the results.
Initially there were some sketches to determine exactly how the bottom part of the plant was going to look:

Then I finished just a flat image of a "Bouquet" of leaves, as I thought to do a turn around and try to figure out what brushes would work best, but after a conversation with Andrew, had a better understanding of how they intended to build up the plants and so pivoted. Here was the original drawing I had started working with...and the example of how it was to sit in the environment from Andrew:

I then went back and took what I learned from working on the bush and made individual leaves that could be used to build what is going to be the plants. I made a variety of shapes and sizes of Healthy leaves, and recolored/altered some of the leaves slightly so that if there was a need, people could also make a plant with damaged or dead leaves. I used the blue of the grass for the plant...and the decay of the plant I decided to go with yellows since I thought the decay would likely mimic the color of the soil or the rocks of the environment. Below are images of the leaves completed as well as a mockup by Andrew on how these leaves will be used.

And that's what I was able to accomplish.
Theres a lot of things to consider going into the next two-week period....and gosh darn it if I don't get some creature creation work in....there will be hell to pay (sorry Juan....yet more postponing). I will continue to finish the plant for Blue Hair. Part of me wishes to do more for Blue Hair, but I think I will likely stop further participation until I get some of the other stuff I want to do done...since I'm having such a hard time with that. I desperately want to participate in at least one game jam...and since it started up again this month.... now is good as any time to do it......I just.... don't have any idea what I'm going to be able to accomplish by myself...or how I'm going to make it a simple game with replay-ability factor. I'm also beginning to feel like I've been spending too much time not finishing the course work....and that I should get Tank and the other projects done so I can free time up for things like this. I'd also like to finally get some creature art in there.... but it really depends on how quickly I can get all the "more important" stuff done. So....we shall see where the road takes me next.
See ya in two weeks!
