Qué Será, Será

In which Arielle completed a lot more than she originally thought she was going to be able to do. There are some things that didn't get completed fast enough, but truthfully it was an extremely full week, with an awesome meet up! Though, also with pangs of grief echoing occasionally throughout. Arielle realizes that her grief about Bowie's passing seems to lift when she talks about him, how everything happened, what he used to do. Keeping quiet is what seems to make it more intolerable.
In the past few weeks, many things have transpired, but for the sake of brevity, I'll try to talk only about this week. It all started with no Gartic Phone. Monday, most of the morning activities had been cancelled...which bummed me out a little, until later when it was announced as Sonic's Birthday and had a huge event where everyone got to draw Sonic. I nearly didn't join...mostly because even though I used to play Sonic and occasionally catch the cartoon (which I don't remember at all honestly other than.... chili dogs...) ...the reality is, I'm not really a Sonic Autist. I know.... it's like seeing a unicorn...
Anyway, I did finally join and decide to draw a Sonic OC, LOL. I figured if I tried to draw one of the beloved characters and fail horribly...I'd never hear the end of it...So figured drawing an OC would be safer. I created a Jaguar lady named Minerva 'Nerve' Gold. Shes still a work in progress (mostly because I had to switch to working on stuff for the Game Jam), I'm still working on the spot design and her clothes...also got to pull the image down a little so I can finish her hair and have the whole image rather than it going off the edge.
Much thanks to friend Odin for helping me to flesh out her character a bit more!

Tuesday marked the day of the gathering at the Garage. I got to meet and speak with many of my friends I've made here at Game Gen, as well as meeting the staff. I didn't really get to spend enough time talking with everyone, but I just attribute that to the excitement and nerves. Next time I am going to make a more concerted effort to talk to EVERYONE. Also...if in the future there is a meet up and I haven't talked to you yet, PLEASE feel free to approach me. I don't bite hard. Shout out to Isabel, Heidi, and Zach for the party favors!
It was the kind of day that leaves a smile on your face that lasts at least another 24 hours. I think they call this.... heartwarming.
ANYWAY...
WEDNESDAY SURPRISE GARTIC PHONE! It was pretty peak...

The rest of the week has been devoted to the Game Jam and the various parts I've taken on. I actually had a part to play in two games, One that was with Zach, Kevin, and Elijah...which (oops) I kinda took too long drawing my level (d'oh) but I think I needed to learn scope this way....even if it makes me feel bad, and the other game I offered to help with was Kairi's....since I loved the plot and knew I could churn out what she needed....which are the ending cards (there are three endings)
First, I'll show some of the things I was working on for my own project with Zach, Kevin, and Elijah:
So far, I've helped the most with the Pre-vis aspects. But I also had the last level to work on too...but I don't know if I'll be able to get it done in time...perspective and perfectionism are my week points, but here is the sketch I did for the BG:

I may still try to work on it.... but I know the game will have two levels at the very least.
I also managed to sketch out the general idea for each Ending in Kairi's Game...sorry Kairi....I know this is spoilers.... but I won't offer an explanation for anything:
The next couple of weeks will be dedicated to Game Jam stuff. Whenever that gets done, I'll also want to finish Nerve's drawing. I'll then pick up where I left off in Blue Hair.
And I sung to him:
"Qué Será, Será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Qué Será, Será
What will be, will be"
