In which the editing project is still incomplete, much to Arielle's chagrin. Unforeseen circumstances, among other things, may be partially to blame, but Arielle has yet...another idea...
SOOOO, yeah...
Looks like I dropped the ball...
I think the main culprit is that I kept getting stuck on the tiny frilly edits...instead of doing a slow progression of multiple passes over time and THEN going in to do the fun little edits. I'd get an idea of how to make a scene more interesting, then get sucked in to making it look perfect. It would take way longer than expected, partially because I can demonstrate some seriously terrible time management...or perhaps I just lose track of it. I'd then have to find suitable assets to use and a tutorial that helpful and easy to understand. Lastly, I'd have to execute it, which could be difficult, if for some reason the download of the clip got messed up or my perfectionistic tendencies make it a slow...slow process. Not to mention I still need to do the credits, which is more than likely going to be the names of the people I got the clips from and other such information that needs to be compiled still/citing sources.
I'm disappointed. I genuinely thought I could complete it.
OH WELL.
So, what I've decided...is that...I may still work on it but decided to render out what I have completed so far and export. It's not finished...But it's time to have someone other than myself look at it. I plan to send in the mp4 file to my mentors for the blog review, but since it's so long (ended up being 40 mins, d'oh), I'll run/stream the full thing after so interested parties can watch and give feedback.
The rest of you...non-Game Gen peeps...will just have to wait a bit longer.
The real question is...do I keep working on it...or...is it better for me to put it on the backburner after showing off what I have at the blog review and instead move forward with the next project. After all, I still have Tank and many other game projects to work on...
Guess what happens will likely be a surprise for you non-Game Gen peeps, as well.
